Plot

Aishiteruze Baby is a shōjo manga series that revolves around the life of Kippei Katakura, a popular high-school playboy who flirts with any girl he sees, without thinking about their feelings. His life is turned upside down when one day his aunt abandons his five-year-old cousin Yuzuyu at his house. Kippei is assigned the task of taking care of Yuzuyu for the time being, and he must learn how to become the "mother" she needs. As Kippei learns how to care for Yuzuyu, he also learns to care for Kokoro, a quiet girl at his school, who helps him out.

In Japanese, aishiteru ze (愛してるぜ ?) is a casual, masculine way of saying "I love you" (see Gender differences in spoken Japanese).

Plot

The movie opens on a stage of a concert hall where a woman is observing two men during a practice. She sends a message on her cellphone, and then there is an explosion. At the crime scene, the body of a flute was found.

Elsewhere, an unknown person with the classic black silhouette of a man reads the news on the computer and comments on how he is getting closer to his plan of a Silent Night.

Later, on the grounds outside the hall, Conan is talking to Ran on the phone as Shinichi. He investigates and find sees an old man carefully picking up a piano key from the piano destroyed from the explosion, and putting it in his pocket. The man leaves in a car with license plate 52-83. Ran invites him to go to a rehearsal with her at the concert hall that is opening soon. He declines and tells her she's meddling too much which causes her to angrily reply he will never be like Sherlock Holmes because he's tone deaf. Ran angrily hangs up and calls Conan asking him what he wants for dinner.

At the rehearsal; Richard, Ran, Sonoko, and the detective boys are introduced to the characters who will be performing for the Doumoto Concert Hall opening; Doumoto Kazuki the organist and former pianist, Fuwa Takumi the former piano tuner turned director of the hall, Hans Müller the professional organ tuner, Doumoto Genya, son of Kazuki and pianist, Chisusa Rara Soprano, Yuhane Shion Violinist, and Akiba Reiko the main Soprano. The kids ask Akiba Reiko to help their class choir to sing their school anthem. She agrees when she learns they are from her alma mater, but asks them to leave immediately, possibly to allow Shion who is shy perform without fear.

Later on Ran is revealed to still be angry at Shinichi. Sonoko comments that this happened before and that she was angry at him for a week. She asks him how she forgave him. Ran remembers how long ago she walks with Shinichi home and remembers a woman singing.

The next day Ran plays the piano while the kids sing the Titan High School anthem. Akiba comments on their performance; Genta is too loud, Mitch is not putting enough feelings into it as he was staring at Ai, Ai is singing like an adult, Ayumi is perfect, and Conan is off key the whole time. She is revealed later to have a perfect pitch. Genta steals a drink of Akiba's tea and acts in agonizing pain.

At the hospital, the doctor says that Genta's throat is severe inflamed by chemicals and he will not be able to speak for about four days. The detective kids, Sonoko, and Akiba accompany Genta home. On the way home they are chased by a truck, at one of the turns Akiba takes a different route to get the truck away from them. She trips and is about to be run over until a taxi comes and the car turns. The culprit escapes.

Later, two more murders occur. One explosion kills Kabe Souko, with the foot joint of a flute left on the scene. The other occurs when the paraglider of the victim is inflicted with fine cuts to cause it to plunge from mid-air. In the victim's car is the headjoint of the flute. These 2 victims, together with the 2 dead victims from the earlier explosion, formerly belonged to a group called the quarter quintet. Conan, indebted to Akiba for a reason he has forgotten, follows her to the forest as she is known to relax there on the day before the concert. She is attacked by a gunner who wounds her leg. They escape when the gunner pauses on shooting the killing shot. She does not report this to the police to avoid missing the concert.

Moore deduces that the murder is Doumoto Genya as a year ago the quarter quintet badly performed the 9th symphony of Beethoven whilst drunk. He assumes Doumoto was a Beethoven fanatic and seeing one of his songs defiled by drunks, murdered them. An evidence he points out was Genya's hair was cut the same way as Beethoven. Genya reveals he got his hair for his mother and his hair is natural.

At Doumoto Hall, the concert is being prepared. Sonoko says that a balcony is reserved with 10 seats, with one for Shinichi. After rehearsal Conan and Akiba look for Kazuki to tell him a key for the organ is a little flat. Near a lake, she and Conan are knocked out by the assailant with a wrench. They wake up downstream where it would take hours before they are found. They hear an explosion at the Doumoto Hall. Since the Concert Hall is built to be soundproof and stable, the explosions outside could not be heard inside. The explosions are slowly destroying the pillars outside the hall to prevent entry or exit. Conan sees a phone on top of a building. He explains that phones work by hearing pitches of sounds as numbers. He knocks the phone down with the ball and Akiba and Conan exert the right pitch to dial 110, calling the cops.

They take a helicopter and enter the building. There Conan sees the assailant hiding in one of the VIP suites. He explains that the irregular note on the organ sets off an explosion and that there are 24 in total; 23 pillars, 1 in the main hall. He says the concert can't be interrupted because the assailant is holding a detonator also. Akiba buys time for Conan by interrupting the concert to by singing Amazing Grace which involves only the first set of keys on the organs whilst the detonator key is on the third row.

Conan enters the balcony of the assailant revealing it to be Fuma Takumi. Fuma reveals that the reason he killed the first four people was because his son, Akiba's fiancé, died indirectly because of them; and his pride as a professional piano tuner was thrown away when Doumoto Kazuki quit playing the piano. Without his son, wife, and pride of being a tuner for a professional pianist, his life was nothing and he wanted to bring silence to the organ which haunted him.

Just then the 24th irregular note was played but the final explosion did not occur. It turns out Conan removed the sensor from the organ before he came to Fuma. Fuma congratulates him and prepares to press the detonator but it was shot out of his hand. Fuma takes out a gun and prepares to kill himself until Kazuki comes and reveals to him the reason he quit as a pianist was to keep Fuma's pride. Because of Fuma's old age, his hearing is starting to deteriorate and so was his tuning, to keep his pride he quit being a pianist so he did not have to hurt his friend. Fuma comes to realize this and surrenders peacefully.

While outside the concert, Ran hears Amazing Grace played on a violin. She enters the wood where Conan tells her Shinichi played it to her to be forgiven like that day long ago.

At the post credits, Akiba reveals the song Amazing Grace is a song of forgiveness, a favourite of her late fiancee. She sings it on the anniversary of his death near the river which is why she did not pursue revenge like Fuma did for his son. Conan asks how Ran knew it was Shinichi playing the violin. She replies he has a weird habit when he plays the violin. Conan later in his house's library plays Amazing Grace to try and find his "strange habit"

Plot

The movie opens with a car chase by Takagi and Sato who are after thieves wearing two famous celebrites laughing masks; that robbed a super-market. After the thieves are intercepted by the police, their car flips over and the thieves are injured. One of the thieves fainted due to the accident and the other one is questioned on his motive. He mentions Koumijima, and Jolly Roger and faints.

The scene changes to show Mouri Kogoro talking to the hotel receptionist on Koumijima. Behind him are the Detective kids, Professor Agasa, Ran and Sonoko. Richard brags to the receptionist how he won 300,000 yen by finishing a long unsolved crossword puzzle for the news paper, which Conan secretly mentions how he was the one to solve it. The receptionist tells them their reservation was not found. At that moment the head of the Department of Tourism, Iwanaga Jouji, appears and confirms their reservation but saying it is not at the hotel.

Afterwards, three muscled men walk past them and Conan proclaims they're treasure hunters. The detective kids excluding Conan and Ai are excited there is a hidden treasure on the island. They are driven to their lodging which is an inn owned by Mima Kasuo. Iwanaga helps them plan their activities. The detective kids are going on a treasure hunt, Ran and Sonoko are going diving, and Richard Moore is going drinking.

Ran and Sonoko go to the diving shop owned by Mabuchi Chika to rent some equipments. With the equipments, Yamakuchi Kimiko a diving instructor, will come with them on their dive. Meanwhile, the detective kids are taught about the legend of the pirate duo, Anne Bonney and Mary Read and the treasure they buried on this island. Iwanaga then gives the detective kids treasure maps with five spots for stamps. The stamps are two numbers, either red or blue. They must find the locations via clues in treasure boxes beside the table for stamps. They get their first stamp in the museum. Their first clue is "Even if the setting sun is almost at it's end, a pirate still shines" Iwanaga lets them rent bicycles and they start the search.

Back to Ran, Sonoko, and Kimiko, they are diving when they see a shark. They hide in the corner and find sharks surrounding the three treasure hunters, one soaked in blood and bleeding badly. The two men defend the wounded person, one by using his oxygen mask to blow oxygen at the sharks, and one by using his swimming motor to push them away. The three ladies bring the boat and the men climb onto the boat with their injured friend.

Back with the detective kids, they found the second stamp in a cave with bio-luminescent planktons. The second clue is "The thin pirate would laugh." Ai tells Conan she saw the boat Ran used for diving and that someone was bleeding. Conan, worried follows the boat to the infirmary.

At the infirmary Conan finds Ran is safe. The two men are praying for their partners recovery, but he is pronounced dead. Conan, finding it suspicious that professional treasure hunts were attacked by sharks examines the dead partner's clothing. In his diving suit was a plastic bag with fish blood. He explains the deeper you go in water, the higher the pressure increases and that the bag exploded attracting the sharks. Just then Mouri Kogoro comes through the window drunk. Ai sets up the evidence so it can be noticed by Kogoro. Kogoro proclaims to the people in the infirmary a murder has taken place.

Conan goes to the diving shop to investigate since the diving suits are stored there. He learns that the shop does not fear thieves so it is never locked, making anyone the culprit. Back at the lodging, Conan discusses this with Professor Agasa. The detective kids call Conan asking him for help and telling him they are at the hanging bridge. Ai decides to stay behind.

Ayumi and Mitsuhiko cross the bridge while Genta follows slowly behind. A sign tells them that anyone that wears more than 40 Kg can not cross the bridge. Ayumi and Mitsuhiko figure out the clue, "The thin pirate would laugh, while the fat one would cry". Ayumi and Mitsuhiko find the third stamp, and find the second clue, "Pirates don't cry" Conan comes and proclaims that sign is just a hint and is not the actual bridge limit and crosses. They all return back to the lodgings for dinner.

Back at the hotel, Juzo, Takagi, and Sato arrive by helicopter to interrogate the two treasure hunters. The treasure hunters names are revealed to be Izu Yamamtaro and Matsumoto Mitsushi. After refusal to co-operate, Takagi tricks one of the members into giving his fingerprints by giving them a match for their cigarettes.

After dinner, Mima tells the detective kids what the crying pirates are. They go to the beach where when wet sand is stepped on, it makes the sound of a sob. They walk to the part where the sand does not sob and find an old broken boat. Inside the boat, is the fourth stamp and the third clue "Pirate's souls will go to heaven." Conan notices that the treasure hunters are paying Mabuchi for something and finds it suspicious. He investigates and follows the treasure hunters.

A little time before Conan's discovery, at the place where the officers came by plane are, the alarm goes off to show that a disturbance in the museum was detected. They find out that Anne's gun and Mary's Cutlass was stolen. Back with Conan, the treasure hunter are entering the car when they are shot far away by an unknown stranger. Conan examines where the shot was placed and finds tire tracks. He takes a picture of it.

The next day, Conan compares the tire tracks to the bikes. He discovers GPS trackers a small number of bikes. After eating breakfast, the detective kids continue the treasure hunt, while Conan continues his investigation. While wandering, he overhears the investigation team, and hears that a storm is coming. He learns that the rifle that fired the bullets must be quite old and that Mima was the only one to own a Rifle that old.

Back to the detective kids, they find the final stamp and the last clue, "The numbers are the hints". The detective kids figure they should ask Mima. Conan asks Mima on where the treasure is since Mima is a treasure hunter. Ran and Sonoko visit Kimiko and they talk. The officer comes and ask for Mabuchi to come to the investigation room. Ran, Sonoko, and Kimiko leave the store only to be taken hostage by the treasure hunters.

Mima takes the kids and show them the original map made by Anne 300 years ago. It is exactly like the map Iwanaga gave the kids. They figure out the red and blue color on the numbers are for the first or surname. The numbers are actually letters from the English Alphabet. It spells out Jolly Roger, the flag of a pirate. The skull on the pirate flag on the 300 year old map reveals the letters DOS DIOSAS, which in Spanish means Two Goddesses. It means the entrance to where the treasure is between two goddesses.

Back to the treasure hunters, Kimiko is knocked out. The treasure hunters take Ran and Sonoko on a boat toward Yorioyajima (Skull Island). Kimiko arrives to the inn and tell them they are being taken to Yorioyajima. Conan tells the detective kids to inform the officers and tells Mima to take him to the island. The professor gives two mini oxygen tanks that supply 10 minutes of oxygen to Conan.

Back to the treasure hunter, they are preparing to dive. They cut Sonoko to use her as bait and tell them to dive or else. They dive and enter the cave. Conan uses the original entrance and enters the cave above ground. The treasure hunter find the treasure room, to only find an boat with nothing precious on it. They are knocked out by Conan and his soccer ball. Conan tells Iwanagawa to come out of hiding and knew that Conan was being followed. Conan revealed that Iwanagawa set up the puzzle and got them to come to Koumijima, copied the treasure map, and shot the treasure hunters so he could get the treasure himself. After realizing there is no treasure, Iwanagawa gives up.

Suddenly, an earthquake strikes and water starts to fill up the cave. The cave also releases Methane Hydrate. Conan tells everyone go into the cabin while he kicks a chain into the ceiling to start an spark that will cause an explosion to blow open the ceiling. Conan gives Ran and Sonoko his oxygen masks and tells them to set the oxygen tanks on the criminals too. Ran asks him if he will be okay and Conan lies that he has a mask. Conan starts the explosion and jumps into the cabin just in time. The boat floods with water and Conan is saved by Ran sharing her mask.

The boat bursts out onto the ocean and finds the investigation crew's ship instantly. The boat they are on start to break and they jump into the ocean and climb onto the investigation boat. Mima says that the treasure was the boat and reveals more about Anne and Mary. Mary was caught and placed in prison so Anne set up the boat for one day when Mary would escape and they would sail the seas. He says that Mary died due to an illness in prison and that Anne waited till she died of old age.

At the post credit, Conan asks how Ran knew he did not have a mask. She tells him that like Shinichi, they give the same face when they are lying and has a flashback to when Shinichi gives her an umbrella while he walks home in the rain.

The 9th annual Detective Conan movie sets sail on a 100 million yen luxurious cruise. Fifteen years ago, a cruise named Yashiromaru, built by the Yashiro group, sank while sailing. In the present, a new cruise, the Saint Aphrodite, was built by the Yashiro group and Conan and the rest were invited through Sonoko. On the second day of the cruise, the mistress of the Yashiro family was found murdered in her room. Later, the President of the Yashiro group was also found missing. He had been thrown off the cruise into the ocean, seemingly by the same person. At the welcoming party, Kogorou shows off his deduction skills, and concluded that the sub-designer of the cruise, Akiyoshi, was the murderer. However, Conan has different ideas. Kusaka, a scriptwriter who worked in co-operation with Akiyoshi on a script, was the culprit. Kusaka immediately set off bombs and escaped by sea and the Detective Boys gave chase. After they successfully took down the criminal, more bombs were ignited. All passengers were evacuated, but Ran returned to her hiding place during the hide-and-seek game to find a necklace the Detective Boys made for her. However, as the ship swayed, she fainted in the enclosed area. Akiyoshi was also the murderer, and she was the one who did the killing and made Kusaka think that he did it himself. She also revealed that the accident that happened 15 years ago was not at accident, the cruise was sunk deliberately for its insurance, and that her father was the captain who died while the cruise sank. Kogorou, however, deduced correctly this time and managed to arrest Akiyoshi. As Kogorou and Conan began to evacuate, they found out that Ran was missing. They find her under the deck of the boat with the help of a fire axe. Afterwards a helicopter comes and picks them up. At the post credits, Conan explained he knew where Ran was because when he kicked the volleyball, Ran said she heard a soccer ball, meaning she was in a place with a tough wall. The detective kids come, and told Ran they made a better Necklace for her, and put it on her.

A stage actress, Julie wants to use her star sapphire for her upcoming play and asks for Kogoro Mori's help to protect it after showing Kogoro a letter from Phantom Thief Kid. On the day of the theft, Kid appears at the theatre disguised up as Shinichi Kudo but ends up fleeing in the end without the jewel. To thank them, Julie invites Kogoro and everyone to Hakodate, and they all travel on an airplane to get there. In the air, one of the show actor, Shinji, who was suppose to be elsewhere and Ran's mother, Eri Kisaki, joins them on the plane. As the plane takes off, Julie comes in physical contact with most of the individuals she invited, making them all suspects to her death by consuming a piece of poisoned chocolate, a homicide later found to be committed by her makeup artist, Atsuki.

The captains were also poisoned from Julie and were not able to pilot the plane, so Shinji agrees to take over because he supposedly "took courses", and appoints Conan to assist him. Conan figures out that Shinji is Kaitou Kid when Conan is asked to assist, as this logic would not apply in a similar situation. The storm and fire at the airport make it impossible to land while the plane fuel is running low. Conan picks a stable area that can support a commercial plane. Ran and Sonoko Suzuki eventually take over piloting the plane while Kid escapes by jumping off the plane and Conan has to "go to the bathroom." Conan then switches over to Shinichi's voice and guides Ran for landing the plane. Ran tells Shinichi that she loves him but ends the moment by telling him that she suddenly sees lights at the site. It turns out that Kid went near the police and uses police cars (because this policeman is obsessed with catching him) as guiding lights to land the plane. All went well, and the movie ends with Ran talking to Shinichi over the phone again arguing about silly things, thinking that it was Kid who guided her to land the plane, and is relieved that "her secret" isn't out.

The victims were Mr.Ooki and Mr.Hara, the hacker and game programmer (he was killed by Gin for hacking into the Black Organization data into the Tokiwa corporations computers. He also creates a machine which shows the face of the user from ten years later. It shows an error for Conan and Haibara. The third victim was ms. Tokiwa Mio herself. All of them were killed by the painter Mr. Kiseragi. The black organization plants bombs in the building thinking Shiho Miyano a.k.a Ai Haibara was there but mistake Sonoko for her and shoot her in the lift (because she got a perm as Haibara has which made her look like Shiho). Gin tracks Haibara because of her strange habit of calling her deceased sister's telephone and later deleting the message. The story also gives some secrets about Ayumi, Mitsuhiko and Ai. Conan breaks his skateboard in the movie jumping to the other side of the bridge which was blasted to save his friends. Everyone evacuated the building except the detective boys. They find themselves in a room full of bombs and use the car which Mouri won in the Guessing 30 seconds game. Using the fact that Ayumi can count exact 30 seconds when Conan is beside her the count for the right timing and jump to the other building in the car along with Mr. Kiseragi who became unconscious after Conan shot him with his watch because he was about to commit suicide. Haibara decides to sacrifice her life but Genta and Mitsuhiko save her. The story ends with everyone reaching safe and sound into the pool while Kogoro discovers that his car is in the pool.

The story begins with Ayumi watching a vampire movie late at night in her apartment. At her mother's insistence, the little girl goes to bed, but is awoken minutes later by the sound of Kaitou Kid landing on her balcony. After a brief conversation, Kid flies off, pursued by the police (who are lead by Nakamori). The next day, she discusses the meeting with her friends, and Ai Haibara asks Conan what the "Heisei Holmes" intends to do. Conan retorts that Kid will be caught eventually. The movie then cuts away to a massive meeting at the metropolitan police department (which Kogoro is attending as well), headed by the superintendent of investigation, Shintaro Chaki. Chaki states that they have received a note from Kid stating his next crime, marked "From the dusk of the lion to the dawn of the virgin, when the clock without the second hand is pointing toward the twelfth letter, I shall take the memories' egg, from the shining sky chamber". The note is signed "The Last Wizard of the Century".

The superintendent comes to the conclusion that the "memories egg" is a recently discovered Fabergé egg belonging to Nicholas II of Russia, which is to be displayed in the Suzuki Modern Art Museum in Osaka on August 22nd. Inspector Nakamori takes it at this point, explaining that the first line of the poem talks about the last day of Leo (August 22nd) and the first day of Virgo (August 23rd), between which Kid will attempt to steal the egg. The meaning of the second line is, as of yet, undiscovered. The meaning of the last line is interpreted as referring to "Castle Tower", the main tower of Osaka Castle. The movie then picks up at the point where Conan, Ran, and Kogoro travel to Osaka, the latter in order to secure the egg. They meet Sonoko at the airport, and travel by limo with her to the museum (which her father owns). Meanwhile, over at Professor Agasa's house, Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta complain about how Conan went to Osaka without them. In order to placate them, the professor offers them some watermelon slices, but asks of them to solve a riddle before they can eat. Not one of the children being able to get it, Ai effortlessly solves the riddle.

Meanwhile, at the Suzuki Modern Art Museum, Conan, Ran, Kogoro, and Sonoko meet up with Heiji Hattori and Kazuha Toyama. Sonoko comments on how their relationship mirrors that of Ran and Shinichi's, and coupled with Kazuha's words about how Hattori kept talking about "Kudo", Ran begins to suspect that Shinichi and Conan are one and the same. Once inside the museum, Sonoko's father introduces them to Selgei Ovchinicov, the Russian Embassy's first-class secretary, Shouichi Inui, an art dealer, Hoshi Seiran, a Chinese researcher on the Romanov Dynasty, the time which Nicholas II lived in, and Ryu Sagawa, a freelance photographer covering the press with news of the egg. All four of these people want the egg for one reason or another, making themselves suspect in Conan's eyes. After all four have left, Sonoko's father shows Conan, Ran, Kogoro, Sonoko, Heiji, and Kazuha the egg, which is not only priceless and beautiful, but a work of craftsmanship as well. Conan correctly deduces that the egg can be opened, and when it is, it reveals a gold model of Tsar Nicholas II with his family. Furthermore, when a key is inserted and winded, the model rises, music starts playing, and the Tsar model starts to flip through the book that he is holding.

At this point, Inspector Nakamori and Superintendent Chaki arrive, and discuss the meaning of the second line in Kid's poem. After several guesses, Kogoro deduces that Kid will strike when the hands of the clock form an "L" - three o' clock (in the morning). Later on, Ran, Sonoko, Kazuha, Conan, and Heiji visit a fortune-telling booth in Naniwa, and the fortunes that Conan and Ran receive makes them think of each other. Meanwhile, over at the museum, Inspector Nakamori shows Kogoro a decoy egg, which will be placed in the museum in the place where the real egg is supposed to be. Night soon falls, and Conan figures out (from some casual talk from Hattori) that Kid's heist is supposed to take place at 7:20 in the evening, not 3:00 in the morning. Unfortunately, since he and Hattori are too far away from the museum, they are incapable of alerting the adults (having only seven minutes before the heist is attempted). Just before Conan runs off, Heiji stops him and tells him that the "Shining Tower" part of Kid's poem refers to Osaka Tower, atop which lies a weather center.

Sure enough, Kid is atop the tower, and using remote-control bombs, sends the entire district into a blackout. This forces out all of the buildings in the district to bring out their backup power systems, and the only building with a backup power system in the district that is not a hotel or hospital is a warehouse - the warehouse where the real egg is kept. Getting his turbo-power skateboard, Conan chases after the glider-bound Kid, but cannot find a way to follow him through the traffic-jammed street. Hattori soon arrives on his motorcycle, and the two chase after Kid to the egg's new location. Once they get there, Conan runs inside the building by himself, but is powerless to stop Kid from getting away with the egg. Conan tenaciously chases after him with Heiji - until a minivan collides with the Osakan teen and sends him and his motorcycle skidding across the ground. At Heiji's urging, Conan continues to chase after Kid on his turbo-powered skateboard - until Kid is shot in the right eye by an unknown assailant and apparently falls into the sea and to his death.

Conan finds Kid's pigeon and the egg dropped onto the ground - the egg is still in good shape, besides its crate being smashed - and a huge search is conducted the rest of the night. However, Kid's body is not found. The next morning, the egg's display is postponed to check for any damage, and Kogoro, Ran, Conan, Sonoko, Sonoko's father and his servant Mr. Nishino, and the four other people in the museum the previous day travel back to Tokyo by ship. Also on the ship is Natsumi Kousaka, whose great-grandfather was a worker in Fabergé's factory, and her butler, Kuranosuke Sawabi. As Natsumi explains, while going through her late grandmother's momentos, she found a ripped sketch of a Fabergé egg, with "MEMORIES" written on the bottom. Conan inspects the sketch, and infers that it was, in fact, a larger sketch than everybody thought, which displayed two eggs. Conan then fiddles with a small mirror in the bottom of the egg, and using a pocket flashlight, makes it project an image onto the wall - an image of Yokosuka Castle, which was built by Natsumi's great-grandfather. Kogoro comes to the conclusion that when Natsumi's great-grandfather (and great-grandmother) came to Japan in order to flee the Russian Revolution, they brought the two eggs depicted in the sketch with them, one of which is the one on the ship right now, and one of which is hidden somewhere in the castle. In addition, a key that Natsumi found with the sketches is supposedly the key that unlocks wherever the egg is held in the castle.

Conan develops suspicions that everyone on the ship, sans himself, Ran, Kogoro, Sonoko, and Sonoko's father, have reason to steal both eggs. Later in the day, Ran is treating Kid's wounded pigeon when Mr. Nishino, Natsumi, and Sonoko come in, the first of which immediately leaves the room at the sight of it. During tea time, Hoshi Seiran is also invited, and Natsumi explains that ever since childhood, a mysterious phrase has always been stuck in her mind: Barushe Niku Katta Beka. The four girls then discuss various traits about themselves, such as eye color and birthdays, during which Conan lets slip his own - Shinichi's - birthday, deepening Ran's suspicion that he is Shinichi. Later on, just as the sun is setting, Ryu Sagawa, the photographer, shows off a necklace made from the ring of Nicholas II's daughter Maria. When Hoshi asks where he got it, Ryu simply scoffs and walks off. During the night, Ryu is murdered, shot in the right eye in the same fashion as Kid (supposedly). The murder is soon discovered, and Inspector Megure, along with officers Takagi and Shiratori, arrive at the scene by helicopter. The inside of Ryu's room is a mess, with furniture and belongings thrown askew and his pillow ripped open. The police find Nishino's pen scattered inside the room, pegging him as the culprit. In addition, Takagi and Shiratori report that all videotapes in Ryu's room are gone.

Conan suddenly runs off, and Ran follows, bumping into Offier Shiratori in the hall. Shiratori insists that Ran regroup with the others, since the assassin could still be on the ship, while Conan uses the phone box to phone Professor Agasa, telling him to look up a sniper who likes to shoot people in the right eye. Suddenly, he feels the presence of someone looking at him, but when he turns around, no one is there. Agasa soon comes up with the results: a thief of unknown age and gender, nicknamed "Scorpion" by the ICPO, likes shooting people in the right eye. Meanwhile, Officer Takagi finds Ryu's ring necklace in Nishino's room, further pegging him as the murderer, until Conan comes in and realizes that Nishino's pillow is rubber; further interrogation reveals that Nishino is allergic to feathers (hence his reaction with Kid's pigeon), and therefore could not have ransacked Ryu's room. After clearing Nishino's room, Conan shares with the adults his theory of Scorpion being behind the sniping of Kaitou Kid and Ryu, intriguing them - especially Kogoro, who demands how Conan knows of people like Scorpion. While Conan is struggling for an explanation, Officer Shiratori states that he heard it from Professor Agasa, and Conan realized that Shiratori was the person he sensed looking at him in the phone box.

Remembering that the fortune he received in Osaka said "Secrets will be revealed", Conan has the feeling that "Shiratori" might know his identity. Since he cannot risk using his watch stun-gun with Officer Shiratori watching, Conan is forced to use subtle hints to lure Kogoro away from his harebrained deduction that Nishino is Scorpion. Eventually, it is revealed that a few years back, Nishino beat up Ryu for insensitively filming a little girl whose village was destroyed by war, so Ryu would naturally hold a grudge against him. Kogoro then comes to a more rational deduction that the murder case is actually two cases overlapped, with the first one involving Ryu placing his own ring in Nishino's room and taking Nishino's (personalized) pen into his room in order to frame him for the theft. However, before the "stolen" ring could be announced, Scorpion killed Ryu and ransacked his room for the ring, along with taking all of his tapes since one of them could have captured his/her identity. Officer Shiratori states that he found a lifeboat missing from the ship, hinting that Scorpion had already escaped, and volunteers to go to Yokosuka Castle to provide security, seeing as Scorpion may also be after the second egg. Despite Kogoro's protest that Conan cannot go to the castle, Shiratori insists that the young detective go, seeing as how "his unique views may be useful".

Meanwhile, at Professor Agasa's house, the professor and Ai are preparing to go to the castle as well. Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and Genta naturally stow away onto his car, and come to the castle too. At the castle, the professor gives Conan a pair of "heavily equipped" glasses, just like he asked, fitted with bulletproof glass. Naturally, Kogoro demands that the four other children remain outside the castle, along with the professor, but as soon as everybody else enters it, the "Detective Boys" look for another passage into the castle, as to "get to the treasure faster". Meanwhile, inside the castle, Inui (the art dealer) splits off from the main group and finds a hidden safe behind one of the pictures in one of the rooms. However, he triggers a trap, which causes a shackle to pin his wrist to the inside of the safe and an assortment of blades to rain down on him. Luckily, the blades are attached to the ceiling via strings, and stop within an inch of his body. After unlocking the shackle (and taking away all of Inui's lock-picking tools), the group continues with the tour of the castle, coming to a study that doubled as Natsumi's great-grandfather's room. Inside, they find a picture of the Mad Monk Rasputin, who is said to have led ruin to the Romanov Dynasty. Conan eventually figures out that there is a hidden basement in the castle, along with a hidden keypad to unlock it. After several guesses, the password turns out to be "Barushe Niku Katta Beka" - the phrase stuck in Natsumi's head, under slightly different pronunciation - as "ВОЛШЕБНИК КОНЦА ВЕКА" - "the last wizard of the century" in Russian.

At the correct password being typed in, the gears beneath the castle begin to move, revealing a small opening to a staircase leading underground. Meanwhile, the "Detective Boys" have found their own way beneath the castle, and choose to go forward in the tunnels instead of waiting for the professor to get help. With Conan's group who has traveled underground by now, Conan notices a sound made by the four other children, and goes to check it out, accompanied by officer Shiratori. Inui, meanwhile, sees a shadowy figure in one direction of the tunnels, and when he chases after it around a corner, he is shot by a silenced handgun held by the figure. After the "Detective Boys" and Conan's party have grouped together, the collective party come to a massive wall in the tunnel, covered in ornate engravings and pictures. Almost immediately, Conan figures it out, telling Officer Shiratori to shine his flashlight beam exclusively at a two-headed vulture drawing's single crown. The concentrated beam of light triggers the crown like a switch, as it is made out of photometer, and a set of hidden stairs appears, leading to a chamber even further underground.

The inside of the chamber is designed like a crypt, with a small shrine surrounded on all sides by water. A massive copper coffin lies in the center of the chamber, which Natsumi opens with the key that she had found in her great-grandfather's sketches. Kogoro heaves open the lid of the coffin, revealing a corpse inside, clutching the second egg. When asked about the identity of the corpse, Natsumi supposes that it is that of her great-grandmother, who could not be buried in a regular cemetery because of her Russian roots. When opened, however, the egg is revealed to be empty. Ayumi suggests that the egg is like a Matryoshka Doll, in that it needs to be put into something, or something needs to be put in it. At this point, Officer Shiratori reveals that he had borrowed the first egg from Sonoko's father, and had it in his bag all along. The first egg is placed into the larger second egg, but nothing happens. Conan figures that the many pieces of glass inside and outside both eggs are lens, and tells everybody else to extinguish the candles lighting the chamber. Next, Officer Shiratori's flashlight is placed vertically into the center of a goblet-like holder, and the two eggs, one inside the other, on top.

The vertical beam of light shines through the combined mechanisms of both eggs, triggering a photometer switch inside them. What results is multiple beams of light being projected from the eggs and hitting the walls of the chamber, revealing pictures of Nicholas II's family and friends. Everybody realizes that the golden figurines inside the first egg aren't reading a book, but a photo album - that's why the eggs are called "MEMORIES". Amongst the pictures are one of Natsumi's great-grandfather - alongside her great-grandmother, who she had never seen before in her life. When the lights fade, Conan begins to wonder where Inui went, just as Ai drops a cryptic question - why was Rasputin not amongst the pictures in the lights? After all, he was close to Nicholas II. Just then, Conan notices a laser sight creeping up Kogoro's body, over his right eye, and manages to knock him out of the bullet's path by throwing his flashlight at him. However, the unknown assailant is now targeting Ran, who Conan manages to push out of the way as well (and only further deepening Ran's suspicions that Conan and Shinichi are somehow connected). However, as everybody is running in panic, Natsumi falls and drops the interconnected eggs, and the assailant scoops it up and runs out of the chamber, Conan chasing after him/her. Leaving Kogoro to take care of the rest, Officer Shiratori chases after Conan.

As Conan, Shiratori, and the culprit near the stairs leading to the castle (with Conan tripping over Inui's corpse), the culprit plants a grenade near the stairs, using the explosion to cause a cave-in. Conan narrowly gets through, but Shiratori is left behind. As he nears the stairs, however, the culprit presses the reset button on the keypad, causing the door in the floor to slide back into place. Conan, however, quickly discovers a switch by the stairs to re-open the door from the inside. The culprit is nearly out of the castle by now, and throws a tank of propane onto the ground, using a torch to light it on fire with the intent to burn the entire castle down. Conan, however, has already made it out of the underground chambers, and confronts the assailant in the room, which is full of suits of armor. Interchanging his voice using his bow-tie, Conan reveals the assailant's true identity - the Romanov researcher - Seiran, who is not only really Russian but a descendant of Rasputin. Becoming steadily more hysteric, Seiran begins to shoot at every sound she hears, while Conan continues to switch between voices and explains that Seiran thought that the eggs should have belonged to Rasputin, and combed the world for it as Scorpion, developing her habit of shooting people in the right eye because Rasputin's body was discovered without a right eye.

At this point, Conan reveals himself and continues with his deduction in the burning room, that Seiran killed Ryu because of his habit of carrying his camcorder everywhere, and she thought that he had captured a picture of Rasputin in her room on the ship, and Inui was killed because he saw her preparing her silenced handgun. However, her reason for killing Kogoro and subsequently Ran was merely because Kogoro had insulted Rasputin earlier. Angrily, Seiran prepares to shoot Conan with the last bullet in her handgun, to which Conan tells her to go ahead and do. However, the bullet merely bounces off of Conan's glasses (earlier installed with bulletproof glass). While Seiran reloads the handgun, Conan activates his kick power-boosting sneakers and prepares to kick a piece of rubble at her, and just as Seiran points the reloaded gun at Conan, a playing card comes out of nowhere and knocks the gun out of her hands. Officer Shiratori emerges from the flames, carrying Seiran and telling Conan to come with him. Though Conan is hesitant, the castle collapsing from the heat of the fire forces him to follow Shiratori. Meanwhile, the others have gotten out via the entrance that the "Detective Boys" entered the tunnels through in the first place, with help from the recently-arrived Agasa.

The "Detective Boys" cry out for Conan, fearing that he has perished in the burning castle, when Conan appears behind them, giving the eggs to Natsumi. According to him, Shiratori had already taken Scorpion - Seiran - away, and fire engines soon arrive to put out the burning castle. Natsumi discusses plans to relocate her great-grandmother's corpse to a cemetery, alongside the other members of her family, while the others discuss the fate of Kaitou Kid - who Conan believes is still alive. Back at the Mouri Detective Agency, Ran muses over how much Conan looked like Shinichi when he pushed her out of the bullet's path. At the sight of Ran's tears, Conan almost tells her who he really is - until what appears to be Shinichi walks into the agency. While Ran rushes to get a towel, "Shinichi" leaves the agency, until Conan stops him outside and reveals him to be Kaitou Kid, as evidenced by the soot on his shoulders. Conan further states that he was Shiratori for most of the case, the real one having been in another city at the time of the case. Furthermore, it's revealed that Natsumi's great-grandmother was Nicholas II's daughter, Maria, and Kid wanted to steal the egg to give it back to her, as she was its rightful owner. During the Russian Revolution, Natsumi's great-grandfather fell in love with her, and the pair eloped to Japan, carrying the eggs with them. When Maria died, Natsumi's great-grandfather used her fortune to build a magnificent castle to act as her tomb.

Kid stops Conan at this point, telling him "some mysteries are better left as mysteries", just as Ran arrives with a towel. Kid then disappears in a flurry of pigeons, while Conan thinks that there is no mystery about why Kid helped him - Ran had nursed his pigeon back to health, and he was merely returning the favor.

After the credits, Ran is seen chiding Conan for not stopping "Shinichi" from leaving. Conan maintains that "Shinichi" said that he will be back someday. Ran, not soothed in the least, performs several karate moves on the towel she had brought for Shinichi, saying that that is what she will do to Shinichi when she sees him again. Conan sighs in relief at how he has not changed back yet or told Ran his identity.
