Suzune (鈴音 ,Suzune)

Came from the future. The son of Kazune and Karin and also somewhat "brother" of Himeka, he has Kazune's looks and Karin's eyes and is a little boy. He calls Karin "mommy" and Kazune "daddy". Suzune's name is written with the second kanji in Karin and Kazune's first names. His name literally means "bell sound". In Vol. 5 of Kamichama Karin Chu, Suzune transformed into a cupid by a "Family Love Evolution" with Karin and Kazune.

Kazune Kujyou (九条 和音 ,Kujō Kazune)

  • Age: 13 (14 in Chu)
  • Birthday: February 1
  • Blood type: A
  • Star sign: Aquarius
  • Appearance: Short, blonde hair (Later in episode 19 he dyes his hair balck for the play)and blue eyes. His name literally means “peaceful sound.”
The main male protagonist. Kazune is the clone of Himeka's dead father Kazuto Kujyou. He is the sun god (Apollo), and is extremely powerful. While Himeka loves bugs, Kazune hates them, partly due to his fear of them. He is a very straight forward person. He is in love with Karin as she is his wife from the future. He has a strange habit of being drunk after just smelling sake. Chapters where this habit occur have shown Kazune hugging and even kissing Karin. Also, Kazune can act very feminine as shown when Himeka and Karin was going on a girls day out, he decided to follow. While on the shopping trip Karin and Himeka manipulated him to carry their bags, at the cafe Kazune was going to order ice-cream but decided not to as Karin and Himeka said that they were going to pick it as it would make any girl happy. At the end all three of them go to the movies, Himeka and Karin choosing a very sad, yet stupid love movie which left Kazune in tears.
He dies shortly after Suzune is born in the future, which is what the protagnists are trying to change.
His ring has the power of the god Apollo. But in Chu, he has the power of Uranus. Unlike Karin, his body is incomplete, which explains the reason he collapses after transforming and using too much power.

Karin Hanazono (花園 花鈴 ,Hanazono Karin)

  • Age: 13 (14 in Chu)
  • Birthday: July 3
  • Blood type: O
  • Star sign: Cancer
  • Appearance: Karin has long, light blonde hair that she usually wears in pigtails secured with olive hair ties given to her by Himeka. She is 153 cm tall.
Karin is the protagonist of the series. Her parents passed away when she was still young and she was brought up by her aunt. Having no talent in studies and sports she is always scolded by her aunt. During those times her cat Shi-chan was a pillar of support but a few months prior to the beginning of the story, Shi-chan had died. Karin moved in with Kazune and Himeka after they found out about her goddess powers.
She is an outgoing person, and sticks up for her friends. Her mother's ring allows her to borrow godly power. Her ring is pink and has the power of the goddess Athena (Aphrodite in Chu). Later on, she realizes she has a crush on Kazune, but she knows Himeka loves him and is convinced that her feelings are only one sided. Near the end of the series, she realizes that she is in love with Kazune. She sees a picture Himeka and Kazune each have of their parents, which are the same. Karin happens to have one exactly like them of her parents.
From the last episode of Kamichama Karin, it seemed like that Karin's memories were locked inside her Athena ring, when it was destroyed during the battle with Karasuma Kirihiko, her memories of her old self were revealed.
She is actually Professor Kujyou's wife in the anime and in the manga, Suzuka Kujyou, and his test subject. (Her age was reversed and she was returned to being a baby with all her memories wiped out, but she slowly regains them at the end of series).
She also communicates with her future self through the Chronos Clock, which acknowledges her of Kazune and Micchi's deaths in the future and Jin losing his memory. Also in chu, she loses her memories after Kuga's attack. Kazune tries to make her remember by showing her the manga she "secretly" drew, her karaoke records and her photo albums. although she doesn't remember and even after he showed her everything and even told her that they have the power of gods, she still didn't believe them.[1]
Her name literally means "The Flower Bell of the Flower Garden," with the "Flower Garden" as her family name and "Flower Bell" as her first name.

Kamichama Karin (かみちゃまかりん , lit. Mini-goddess Karin)

The adventure continues in Kamichama Karin Chu with the main cast now in the eighth grade. As Kazune comes back from his trip to England, Karin and the gang are back together again. Karin and the gang travel through time, along with a new comrade: a celebrity named Jin Kuga, fighting a new enemy, the Seeds of Chaos. Besides Jin, there are two more (known) new characters: Rika Karasuma and Suzune Kujyou. Rika is later revealed to be the Himeka Karasuma from the future. Suzune is a little boy, actually Karin and Kazune's future child, that appears to Karin to warn her of the danger. And to Jin, Karin is apparently "his goddess". Jin and Kazune fight over Karin once in a while. Himeka Kujyou goes to England to study abroad. However, she comes back, and meets Rika Karasuma, who is actually the other Himeka from the future. She is the antagonist.

In the sequel Karin's fate has been altered, and she must hurry to save her future with Kazune Kujou. In a dream, the future Karin speaks to Karin, telling her that in the future, Micchi will lose his life, Jin will lose his memory, and Kazune will lose all his power and eventually die. Karin cries out that it won't happen, but she has woken up.

Karin also got a new upgrade in her hair style. In volume 7, when she Transformed with Michiru's (Michii) ring, she gained two little white angel-wing looking clips with her original hair balls. She wears them normally, starting in chapter 1 of 'Kamichama Karin Chu'.

Del Rey Manga released volume one of the 'Kamichama Karin Chu' manga on June 24, 2008.[1] Volume two of the 'Kamichama Karin Chu' manga was released on September 30, 2008, Volume 3 released January 27, 2009, Volume 4 April 28, 2009, and Volume 5 on July 28, 2009 by Del Rey Manga.[2]

Chrollo Lucilfer (クロロ=ルシルフル ,Kuroro Rushirufuru)

Chrollo Lucilfer is a calm, handsome young man, coming across as intelligent and charismatic. He seems to be a born leader, able to hold the Phantom Troupe together despite the volatile personalities that make up the group, and well versed in strategies.

During his time in Yorknew City, he uses his calm presence and communication abilities to assume another personality in order to gain Neon Nostrade's trust.

The only people Chrollo seems to care about are his fellow members in the Phantom Troupe. When Chrollo reads Neon's prophecy which contained Uvogin's death, he cries for him. Later on he orchestrates a massacre of Mafia members as a requiem to his fallen comrade. Besides that, he shows no fear of his own death, even anticipating it. Another Hunter, Melody, states that, his heartbeat sounded as if he was living with death, and apparently appears sadistically happy with it. To Chrollo, the Phantom Troupe are more important than his own life. In a group meeting, Chrollo stresses that the importance of a leader only extends to issuing commands, but the survival of the group comes before the well-being of the leader. To paraphrase him, the head of the spider is just another limb that can be sacrificed for the survival of the spider.

By the end of the Phantom Troupe Story Arc, Chrollo's heart is bound by the Stake of Retribution on Kurapika's Judgment Chain. This will pierce through Chrollo's heart and kill him immediately under either of the following conditions:

  1. He tries to use his Nen
  2. He communicates directly with any member of the Phantom Troupe. (Chrollo is able to talk to Hisoka after Hisoka removed the fake spider tattoo on his back, proving that he had been deceiving the Phantom Troupe all along. He was never a true member.)

Instead of killing Chrollo, Kurapika renders him powerless in order to contain the Phantom Troupe. Chrollo sets off to the east in order to fulfill the prophecy given him by Neon. The destination to the east in the prophecy is later revealed to be Greed Island, the likely place to find a Nen-remover to neutralize Kurapika's chain. Chrollo obtains the game and recruits Hisoka to enter it for him since the game requires the ability to use Nen. Hisoka happily complies for the chance to fight Chrollo once his power is restored.

Talents

Chrollo is a quick thinker and very able-bodied. His ability to fend off the attacks of the two most powerful members of the Zoldyck family of assassins at once is proof of his fighting skill and strength. Zeno states that he would undoubtedly defeat Chrollo in a one-versus-one fight, but remarks that it would be a different matter if Chrollo were truly trying to kill him, instead of trying to steal his abilities. His vast book of abilities also gives him great insight into the abilities of others in combat and strategy (such as when he deduced Kurapika having the ability to impose rules on others with his Judgment Chain).

Nen Ability

Chrollo's Nen Ability is called "Skill Hunter". It allows him to steal the Nen Abilities of other people to use them as his own using a book known as the "Bandit's Secret." The theft victim, of course, no longer has access to his ability. The theft happens under strict conditions:

  1. He must witness the nen ability in action with his eyes.
  2. He must ask about the ability and be answered by the victim.
  3. His victim's palm must touch the handprint on the cover of Bandit's Secret.
  4. All of the above must be done within an hour.

To use one of the stolen abilities, he first conjures Bandit's Secret and turns to the page of the wanted ability. While using an ability, Chrollo must turn to the page with the ability on it and the book must remain opened in his right hand. Additionally, an ability vanishes from the book when its former owner dies.

Known Nen Abilities in the Book

Teleportation

The ability to teleport a person back and forth from one place to another, without that person's consent. He uses it on Nobunaga when he is about to attack Hisoka, as quarrels inside the Troupe are supposed to be either solved verbally or, if no solution can be found, by coin flipping.

Indoor Fish

A conjured fish that can only survive in a completely sealed room. The fish looks like a skeleton and feeds on human flesh. While the person is being fed on, they neither feel pain or lose blood, and will stay conscious despite being mortally wounded. Once the fish disappears, the usual effects of the wounds manifest, often killing the victim.

Fun Fun Cloth

An ability owned by the Owl, a member of Shadow Beasts. This cloth is conjured, and can increase and decrease in size according to the user's will. Whatever is covered in the cloth decreases in size until it fits in the palm of a hand. The user can make it go back to its original size by letting it out of the bag. People can also be shrunk this way, without being injured.
Chrollo obtains this ability while the Troupe tortured the Owl after they captured him to find out how he hid the auction pieces they intended to steal.

Lovely Ghost Writer

An ability stolen from Neon Nostrade. It creates accurate predictions of future events. The user cannot predict their own future. The ability requires:
  1. A Person's Full Name (and, only if she sees the person, a photo would also do.)
  2. Their Date of Birth
  3. Their Blood Type
The target person writes the required information on a piece of paper, then hands it to the abilities user, who then calls the "Lovely Ghost Writer", a sort of green monster that attaches to the users arm and moves his pen. The user does not know what he writes, being in a trance-like state.
The prophecies take the form of poetry, composed of 4 or 5 quatrains each corresponding to every week of the month. The first stanza is always about something that has already happened.
Neon refuses to read her own predictions, feeling it would spoil her ability, but Chrollo has his predictions read out by the addressees. So this seems not to be an ability restriction, but rather a matter of personal style.

She tells Ayu that whoever collects all five will qualify to marry the prince of the Magic Kingdom. Nina's childhood friend Maya is also on earth from the start, competing with Nina to find the stones.Though Nina does collect them all first she learns that the prince and Maya are truly in love with one another, so Nina gives up the stones and her dream allowing Maya and the prince to be with one another.

Ruu (ルゥ ,Rū)

Ruu is an alien baby from the Planet Otto, who can levitate and perform telekinesis on objects, and who develops a deep love for Miyu and Kanata, likening them to his parents and often assisting and helping them. He uses his abilities at very inappropriate times, causing Miyu and Kanata great trouble.
Although he is only a baby, he can understand everyone perfectly. Ruu loved Miyu and Kanata as much as he does for his own parents, and doesn't like it when Miyu and Kanata fight, like in the episode "With Ruu-kun at The Department Store".
In that episode, Ruu manage to make peace between his two beloved 'earth' parents. Ruu is also shown as an ordinary baby that cries and laughs like normal babies do.
In order to keep the others from knowing the truth about Ruu's identity, he is referred to as Miyu's little brother although Ruu will deny that and insist on calling Miyu "mama". So he believes Miyu and Kanata are his real parents but does not learn the truth until the end of the series.

UFO Baby (だぁ!だぁ!だぁ! ,Dā! Dā! Dā!)

Miyu Kouzuki is an 8th-grade student whose parents leave for the United States to work for NASA and arrange for her to stay with their long-time family friend, Hōsho Saionji, a monk who lives at an old temple atop a hill. However, the monk himself leaves soon after for India on a year-long voyage, leaving Miyu in having to stay together in the same house with his son, Kanata.

Suddenly, the landing of a UFO which transports an alien baby, Ruu, along with his cat-like "sitterpet", Wannyā, who arrive after they were separated from their own planet, Otto, due to falling into an interplanetary worm hole, a time warp which can transport objects across several regions, planets and timeplanes. They cannot return to their home planet due to it being too difficult to reach, and Wannyā therefore requests Kanata and Miyu that they allow them to stay in their house. They agree. Miyu and Kanata learn from Wannyā that people from Planet Otto look identical to human beings, and that he himself can transform into human beings, animals and objects.

Miyu and Kanata feel a very deep love for Baby Ruu, who also cares for them deeply and likens them to his parents due to their similar looks, and often go to great lengths to help and protect him and Wannyā. As the story progresses, the group are often involved in comedic and funny situations but grow to greatly love each other. The story ends with a rescue team from outer space coming to Earth and returning Ruu and Wannyā to Otto safely and Miyu going to a boarding school alone. Though years later Miyu and Kanata reunite, get married and have a daughter named Miu. They also reunite with Wannya and Ruu!

Kurapika (クラピカ ,Kurapika)

Kurapika is a member of the Kurta clan, a reticent group of people that chose to live in obscurity in the Lukso Province. They possess eyes that turn flaming scarlet in times of anger or emotional agitation - a color that remains eternally in the iris at the time of death. The legendary brilliance of such scarlet eyes caused them to have high demand as a collector's treasure.

A few years ago, the Phantom Troupe came to Kurapika's hometown and massacred all the members of his tribe, leaving behind scores of dead bodies with eyes gouged out in their wake. As the last surviving member of his clan, Kurapika vows to gain back all the stolen eyes of his people, by tracking the Phantom Troupe down and seeking revenge, even if he must sacrifice his life in the process.

Personality

Kurapika is a level-headed and intelligent individual, possessing vast knowledge. Of sound judgment, his focused analyses have saved his friends from the brink of death many times.

Kurapika has proven to be a balanced fighter on several occasions. He has two large tantō hidden below his overshirt in the first story arc. In the Yorknew City arc, he uses a set of chains on his right hand materialized from his nen. When Kurapika's emotions are being enraged, his eyes turn scarlet red-- a trait only possessed by all members of the Kurta tribe . As of the Yorknew City arc, Kurapika has trained himself to activate his scarlet eyes at will. In this state, he is able to use nen of all categories to their maximum potential.

Nen Abilities

Kurapika is both a Conjurer and a Specialist, one that can materialize objects that act according to his imagination. The weapon that he conjures is a unique one--five chains extending from his fingers of his right hand. Some of the fingers were specially designed to deal vengeance upon the Phantom Troupe. He is even able to conceal his chain using In and bind his opponent without him or her realizing it until it's too late.

  • Nen Ability: Emperor Time (エンパラータイム 「絶対時間」), lit. "Absolute Mastery"

When Kurapika's eyes turn scarlet, he shifts from a Conjurer to a Specialist. This state is called Emperor Time, and it allows him to utilize all the types of nen to 100% efficiency. In the manga, Kurapika explains using the terms "Level" and "Force/Accuracy". Kurapika's "Levels" in the various nen categories remain the same during Emperor Time, however, his Force & Accuracy for every category is raised to 100%. Thus, if Kurapika's Level in Conjuration nen were 10, his Level in Emission (the polar opposite nen type) would be 4, and during Emperor Time, he would be evenly matched against a Level 4 Emission type nen-user. Outside of Emperor Time, his Force & Accuracy in Emission would at most be only be 40%, causing him to lose.

To increase his effectiveness against the formidable Phantom Troupe, Kurapika places strict restrictions on the usage of his nen blades:

  • Thumb Nen Ability: Holy Chain (ホーリーチェ-ン), lit. "Healing Thumb"

Shaped like a cross, it cures wounds by drawing from the enhancement ability. When Kurapika is in his Specialist state, its ability is enhanced and can heal serious injuries within seconds.

  • Index finger Nen Ability:

The purpose of this chain has yet to be revealed.

  • Middle finger Nen Ability: Chain Jail (チェーンジェイル), lit. "The Restraining Middle Finger"

Shaped like a hook, it wraps around enemies and restricts their movement. Also forcefully causes its prisoners to enter Zetsu, shutting off their aura and preventing the use of Nen abilities. Escape from the Chain Jail is only possible through brute force. In order to make the Chain Jail virtually unbreakable by its victim, it was necessary for Kurapika to implant a Judgement Chain around his own heart and impose a limitation onto this chain--it can only be used against members of the Phantom Troupe. If this condition is violated, Kurapika will die.

  • Ring finger Nen Ability: Dowsing Chain (ダウジングチェーン), lit. "The Guiding Ring Finger"

Kurapika uses this frequently under normal situations, for defense and attack purposes. It is also useful for other investigative activities, like determining the location of missing individuals. It has a small ball-like weight at the end which moves in the direction of whatever he is dowsing for.

  • Little finger Nen Ability: Judgment Chain (ジャッジメントチェーン), lit. "Arbiter Little Finger"
The Stake of Retribution, a blade on the end of the chain, enters the victim's body and wraps around the heart. Kurapika sets two conditions and if the victim violates either one, the chain crushes the heart, killing them. It can only be used while Kurapika's eyes turn scarlet. Kurapika himself has a blade wrapped around his heart, which he used to set the conditions of use for his Chain Jail ability.

Killua Zoldyck (キルア=ゾルディック ,Kirua Zorudikku)

Killua was born as the middle child to a family of renowned assassins, the Zoldyck family. Showing great promise from birth, Killua has already mastered many killing techniques at a tender age, and is set to be one of the best assassins the family has ever produced. Bored and tired of killing, Killua unexpectedly rebelled against his family, injuring both his mother and brother, and ran away to join the Hunter exam. He met Gon during the first portion of the Hunter Exam and became great friends.

Killua divulges that ever since his birth, he has been in constant training for the occupation of a professional assassin. Killua had spent years trying to perfect unique skills that assassins portray and possess. He is forced to battle in the Heavens Arena fighting tournament at the age of 6, which he took two years to get to the 190th floor.

Personality

From the outside, Killua seems just to be the rich boy; cheeky, cheerful, has a sweet tooth, and full of mischievous ideas. However, his ruthlessness and aptitude in killing shows the other side of him-- deadly, violent and bloodthirsty.

Having been repeatedly tortured since birth, Killua has been conditioned to possess extreme tolerance for poison, electricity and pain. He possesses extraordinary agility and strength that makes Killua a one man killing machine-- not one to be trifled with, as many of his adversaries had witnessed.

However, until recently, his greatest flaw was to fear those who are more powerful than him, one of whom is his elder brother, Illumi. Killua had been trained as an assassin by his brother to be extremely cautious that he only engages in combat provided that victory is absolutely certain. This impeded him as a Hunter, as Biscuit stated more than once that victory is never certain, and that depending on the circumstances, a person has the potential to defeat a stronger opponent.

Killua struggled with these conflicting ideas during the latter half of the series, as he started to encounter stronger opponents. However, his brother's teachings remained firmly entrenched in his mind, to the point that Biscuit prophesied that he would one day abandon Gon because of this. Biscuit gave Killua an ultimatum: Defeat Shoot to claim the right to go with Gon and fight the Chimera Ants. Killua lost, and resolved to leave after Gon had recovered from his fight, protecting him in the meantime.

Finally he had to face Biscuit's prophecy when he encountered a Chimera ant while Gon (who couldn't use nen at the time) wasn't far off and had no way to defend himself. Killua made an attempt to save Gon. While fighting with the Chimera Ant, Killua is also battling his inner-self. Preoccupied, Killua is losing to the chimera ant. At the last moment, Killua realized that Illumi had implanted a needle in his brain way back in the first Hunter Exam. This needle was responsible for forcing Killua to retreat and jailed himself on his comfort zone whenever any situation would potentially endanger his life. Upon extracting the needle, Killua was freed from this restraint and gained full control of his subconscious to make his own decision whether or not to flee whenever there is a need to fight stronger opponents.

Weapons

At first part of the series, Killua does not usually employ or use any weapons in combat. Instead, he relies on his assassin-type abilities, his hands that have been modified that changes into razor sharp claws, delivering swift and fatal attacks that can rip out beating hearts or behead opponents in a split second.

During the Greed Island story arc, Killua started experimenting with using multiple yo-yos, made of a special alloy created by his brother, as weapons. The yo-yos are extremely durable and heavy, weighing 50 kilograms each. They can be used in conjunction with Killua's electrical Nen abilities. Killua is reluctant to use the yo-yos in combat thus using only his raw physical abilities in order for his opponent to know as little about his combat abilities as possible.

Technique of the Dark Step

A high-level assassin skill mastered by Killua, it involves creating the illusion that one is multiplying, and combined with the total absence of noise, makes an attack performed together with this technique hard to counter.

Nen Abilities

As a Transmuter, Killua's most efficient in changing the form of his nen. As such, Killua developed several electricity based nen techniques. This feat was both inspired and made possible by the years of electric shocks he received as a child, both as training against torture and as punishment from his older brother Milluki.

  • Nen Ability: Lightning Palm (イズツシ 「雷掌」), Izutsushi

The first and most basic ability Killua developed. As the name suggests, Killua is able to shock an opponent by touching them.

  • Nen Ability: Thunderbolt (ナルカミ 「落雷」), Narukami

A natural evolution of his Lightning Palm ability, Killua is also able to project a large bolt of lightning from his hands, striking an opponent with electricity from a distance. The Japanese name of the ability, Narukami, comes from the famous Kabuki play, Narukami Fudô Kitayama Zakura, in which the character Narukami transforms into a thunder god at the end of the fourth act.

  • Nen Ability: Kanmuru (カンムル 「神速」), lit. "Godspeed"

Developed by Killua during his fight against the Ortho Siblings, Killua's Kanmuru ability allows him to react and move his body at speeds that would normally be impossible. This ability changes Killua's aura into a field capable of transmitting all electrical impulses from his brain in a straight line directly to the part of the body he wants to use, completely bypassing his nervous system. It is made up of two parts: Raikō Sekka, the ability to move his body according to his own will, and Shippū Jinrai, the ability to sense his opponents movements and have his body react automatically.

Kaji Teppei (梶 鉄兵 )

Teppei is the 4-year-old little brother of Fumino. Teppei's personality is bright; he often makes people around him happy. Both Fumino and Kazuma love him. Teppei views Kazuma as a brother or a father figure. He often gives Teppei candy for his hard work or just simply for being cute.

Though still very young, he often tries to defend his sister when anyone bullies her. This is shown when Shōma was criticizing her; Teppei defends her by punching him in the leg and saying, "Shō-chan, you bullied Bun-chan" with his fists balled up in anger.

When Fumino and Teppei leave Kazuma, Teppei leaves a trail of his collected hard candy for Kazuma to follow. He was also the one who tried to convince Fumino to stay with Kazuma when she tried to leave, which causes enough distraction for Kazuma to catch up with them. He loves living with Kazuma.

He gave his first drawing to Kazuma as a birthday present. It was a picture of Kazuma himself.

Teppei goes to school with his kindergarden teacher Ryū, who is Kazuma's best friend and neighbor. Teppei nicknames Fumino "Bun-chan" and Kazuma "Mā-kun."

Kaji Fumino (梶 文乃 ) & Ojiro Kazuma (尾白一馬 )

Kaji Fumino

Fumino is a 16-year-old girl who is described as an delinquent in Kumaneko High School, although she is not. She simply interrupts bullies and other bad students in violent ways.

She has a strong personality and sometimes loses her temper. She cares deeply about her brother Teppei. Her parents died in a car accident and so she had to become responsible for her little brother. As a result, she has become more mature and practical than others her age. However, she is terrible at cooking, so she relies on Ojiro to cook for her and her brother.

Even so, she cooked some porridge with some spring onions for Kazuma when he had a high fever. While nursing him with a mask on, he told her that when he was ill, nobody went near him, so they wouldn't get sick too. He also kissed Fumino through the mask, though when he got well, he doesn't remember what he had done.

She once secretly worked in one of Retsu's construction buildings for two weeks (cleaning floors) in order to earn some money to buy Kazuma a birthday present. She bought him a green necktie.

According to chapter 17, Fumino did nothing but sleep in class for the 1st year of school, which causes other students to see her as a bad student. Now she does well in her studies, only slightly poor in English.

Kazuma calls her "Fumino-san". He's very protective of Fumino and doesn't like when other men get too close to her.

Fumino loves Kazuma very much.

Ojiro Kazuma

A 24-year-old English teacher who teaches at Kumaneko High School, Kazuma is described as a "plain, glasses-wearing English teacher." Kazuma is the only one who looks for Fumino when she runs away and ends up marrying her, supposedly only to help her and Teppei. He is sometimes goofy and says he appreciates seeing Fumino's rare smile.

He asks Fumino to help him with problematic students, although he is a teacher. He has a calm and caring demeanor and cares for young Teppei more than Fumino does (according to her). He often gives Teppei candy for his hard work or just for being cute. Kazuma cooks for the family and usually sleeps much later than the rest of his family because of his dedication to teaching. Kazuma has numerous costumes for both Teppei and Fumino to wear and often dresses them up for cosplay.

Even though they are married, Fumino and Kazuma sleep separately. He occasionally sleeps in Fumino's room, but only next to Teppei. Kazuma isn't open about his past, but later in the story, it is revealed that Kazuma was once in a gang. According to his old "gang" friends, he was called Jigoku no Mā-kun (地獄のまーくん , Mā-kun from Hell) because he beat up 100 motorcycle gang members without getting a single scratch.

He still has formidable fighting abilities; shown when he beat up two guys with one hand, while with his other hand he was holding Fumino. He sadly mentions once that his family is still alive, only that they reject him because of his delinquent past. His mother has passed away. His father is a politician as revealed by Shōma.

According to Shōma, Kazuma was an excellent student, as expected from a person set to become the successor of his father. However, suddenly one day, he turned into a delinquent and left home.

Kazuma also mentions that he would like to tease Fumino first before "touching" her and very much does so every chapter. He feels that their marriage is only for Teppei's sake and that he shouldn't be "touching" her in case she leaves him for another man; which he would respect if she did. Even so, he starts developing feelings for Fumino slowly.

He joked that if they were to sleep together, she would have at least grown her breasts to a size C.

Faster than a Kiss (キスよりも早く ,Kiss yori mo Hayaku)

Fumino and her 4-year-old brother Teppei have lived with relatives since their parents died in a car accident. Tired of moving from a relative's house to another, she decides to run away and work to support her brother on her own.

Usui Takumi (碓氷 拓海 , Takumi Usui)

One of the most popular boys at Seika High, Usui appears to take little interest in anything and prefers to observe things as they unfold, though proves to be extraordinarily talented in numerous areas. He develops an interest in Misaki and is the first to learn she is working at a maid café, but chooses to keep her secret. He tends to tell Misaki he likes her, but she dismisses his behavior simply as harassment. Still, he continues to watch over and protect her, as well as offering insightful advice on how to deal with the boys at Seika effectively. Even though he says he likes Misaki, he tells Kanou that he doesn't want to be in a serious relationship.

Misaki Ayuzawa (鮎沢 美咲 ,Ayuzawa Misaki)

The protagonist of the story, Misaki is the first female Student Council President at Seika High and known for her extremely demanding and aggressive attitude towards boys and relentlessly reforming them to what she considers are acceptable standards of behavior. Her negative attitude towards males is mostly attributed to her father amassing with a huge debt and then disappearing; Misaki became determined to make sure her weak mother would not have to work so hard to support both Misaki and her younger sister. To this extent, she secretly and reluctantly works as a maid at Café Latte. Regardless of her endeavors, Misaki is always driven to her best and has a strong sense of justice, but has a tendency to forget her own well being in the process when she is helping others. She starts to have feelings for Usui as the series progresses, although she doesn't realize them herself.

Kaichō wa Maid-sama!

Once an all boys school, Seika High, a renowned school full of reckless and filthy students, has recently become a co-ed school. However, with the female population still remaining a minority even after the change over the recent years, Misaki Ayuzawa takes it into her own hands to reform the school and allow a chance for the girls to feel safer in the rough environment.

Training, studying and even becoming the first female student council president of the school, Misaki has gained a reputation among the male students body as an uptight boy-hating dictator and as a shining hope for the teachers and fellow female students. However, despite her tough-as-nails appearance, she secretly works part-time at a maid cafe in order to support her family. Unfortunately, her secret is soon revealed when the somewhat impassive Usui Takumi, a popular boy at school, nonchalantly discovers her in a maid uniform after school.
